Been in the game long enough to know what you actually need when it comes to stainless & mild steel studding rod. Based in Glasgow UK, we supply stainless & mild steel studding rod and connectors – from basic zinc-plated stuff right up to marine grade 316 stainless steel.
Same day dispatch if you get your order in before 12pm (Monday to Friday anyway). Pop round to collect from South Street if you’re local in Glasgow.
Bread and butter stuff really. Mild steel studding rod with zinc plating – does the job for most applications without costing a fortune.
We shift loads of M10 and M12 stainless & mild steel studding rod, probably because that covers most suspended ceiling work and general construction. The M8 sells well too, especially to the sparks for their containment systems.
Sizes we keep: M6, M8, M10, M12, M16 Standard lengths are 1m, 2m, 3m but we’ll cut to size if needed.
The zinc plating’s decent – had customers using our mild steel studding outdoors for years without issues. Obviously it’s not stainless steel, but for the price difference it makes sense on a lot of jobs.
Two grades we stock – 304 and 316. Most people go for 304 unless they’ve got a specific reason not to.
Your standard stainless steel studding. Handles indoor/outdoor work fine, reasonable on price. Food industry uses loads of this stuff, commercial kitchens and that.
We probably sell 3 times more 304 than 316, just because it covers most situations where you need stainless.
The expensive option, but when you need it you really need it. That extra molybdenum makes all the difference if you’re dealing with salt water or aggressive chemicals.
Marine work is pretty much all 316. Had one job on a fish processing plant where they tried to save money with 304 initially – lasted about 6 months before they had to replace the lot. False economy that was.
Chemical plants, sewage works, anywhere near the coast – 316’s your only sensible choice really.
Simple but useful – lets you join two bits of threaded rod end to end.
Keep stainless & mild steel studding rod and connectors in stock in zinc-plated for mild steel applications, and stainless for the stainless jobs. Available for all the sizes we do.
Saved one contractor’s bacon last month when his measurements were off on a big ceiling job. Better than having to re-order everything.
Not the most exciting product we sell, but they solve problems. Let’s you adapt between different thread sizes – M6 right up to M16.
Handy when you’re working on older buildings and the existing fixings don’t quite match what you need. Rather than ripping everything out, just adapt what’s there.
Construction – Obviously the biggest market. Suspended ceilings, pipe supports, general framework. M10 mild steel probably accounts for half our construction sales.
HVAC – The heating and ventilation lads like our products. Pipe runs, equipment mounting, ductwork support. They tend to go for stainless more than the general builders, especially in plant rooms where there’s condensation.
Marine – Shipyards, boat builders, marina work. This is 316 territory – the sea doesn’t forgive cheap materials.
Food & Drink – Breweries, food processing, commercial kitchens. Hygiene requirements mean stainless only, usually 304 unless they’re using harsh cleaning chemicals.
Electrical – Cable containment, equipment mounting. Mix of mild steel and stainless depending on the environment.
Everything meets BS and EN standards – kind of a given really. Material certs available for the stainless steel when you need them (which is most commercial jobs these days).
We work with suppliers who understand that consistency matters. Last thing you want is explaining to a site manager why this batch looks different from the last one.
Same day dispatch – Order by 12pm Monday to Friday and it goes out same day. Works well for most people, especially when jobs overrun (which they do, let’s be honest).
Collect from Glasgow – 555 South Street. We’re open from 8am for trade, so you can grab stuff before heading to site. Weekends till 1pm if you need something Saturday morning.
UK delivery – Send everywhere from Highlands down to Cornwall. Standard courier, all tracked.
Free delivery on orders over £100, which most people hit anyway.
Threads: Standard metric coarse pitch. Fine threads available but you’ll need to ask specifically.

Honestly? Because we know what we’re selling and we keep decent stock levels.
Phone gets answered by people who’ve actually been on the tools, not some call centre. We hold good quantities of the popular sizes because there’s nothing worse than running out of M10 studding at 4pm on a Friday.
Pricing’s fair – we’ve been doing this long enough to know what things should cost. And if something goes wrong, which it occasionally does, we’ll sort it out properly.
304 or 316 stainless steel? 304 for most jobs, 316 if you’re near salt water or dealing with chemicals. The price difference is significant so don’t use 316 unless you actually need it.
Can I mix mild steel and stainless components? You can, but it’s not ideal. Different metals can cause problems with corrosion. Better to stick with one or the other if possible.
What about custom lengths? No problem, we cut to whatever you need. Standard stock lengths are 1m, 2m, 3m but don’t let that limit you.
Do you do material certificates? For stainless steel, yes. Just mention it when you order, there’s no extra charge.
